Closed for 2020 season, visit us in 2021! Opening January 9th, 2021
2021 SCHEDULE: SATURDAYS
1/9/21- 3/27/21, 10:30AM to 2:00PM
Winter market has a new location! Find us in the atrium at Triphammer Marketplace, near Ithaca Bakery. The winter market has 30-40 vendors and parking is easy! You will find lots of the same vendors from our outdoor market.
In the winter months you can find apples, cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes, winter squash, turnips, beets, pears, shallots, sprouts, sun chokes, rutabagas, Asian radishes, radicchio, chicory and high tunnel greens like kale. You can also get meat, cheese, eggs, cider, prepared food and artisan arts and crafts!
March Winter Market Sponsor!
This month of winter markets is brought to you by our very first winter market sponsor, our neighbors – Winston Square Apartments!
For all our notoriety as one of the nation’s best farmers markets, you may not know that IFM is actually a pretty small organization. We aren’t a non-profit, but we aren’t a giant corporation either. There’s no CEO, we are a cooperative – which means that our members – the farmers, artisans and chefs you see every weekend – run things. The board is made up of vendors (as well as two loyal customers) and they hire the few employees that make things run smoothly. This means that IFM runs Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on a tight budget. The funds for this budget come from pavilion rentals (weddings!) merchandise sales (have you bought a tote bag or t-shirt? Thanks!) and vendor membership fees. If we need more money, we usually have to apply for grants. Whatever is left in our bank account at the end of the year goes back into the upkeep and maintenance of the organization or is put away for the eventual repair of our aging pavilion.
That’s why sponsorships from like-minded businesses and organizations mean SO MUCH to us. Winston Square Apartments is located just a few minutes from our winter market at Triphammer Marketplace and they think farmers markets are an important part of our community. They put their money where their mouth is by financially supporting us, so we want to support them too. Their property has been recently renovated, it’s tucked in a quiet neighborhood and it’s close to all that Ithaca and Lansing have to offer. It has direct access to Sapsucker Woods and Cornell Ornithology, and has 5 unique walking trails! Visit their table at our March winter markets or check out their site to learn more.
