SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), or EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer, formerly known as food stamps) is a federal program that provides monthly funds for people to buy the food they need to thrive. Using your EBT card at market couldn’t be easier! Swipe your card with the staff BEFORE you head to buy from vendors, then you will be given an amount of wooden tokens in $5 and $1 denominations that matches your withdrawal from your card. You can then use those wooden tokens to shop at market.

In addition, there are several periods during the year in which the market receives “Fresh Connect Checks” through a state grant. These checks are given to EBT users who make a transaction at market.

As of July 2023: For every $2 you spend at market, you will receive a Fresh Connect Check (FCC) worth $2, up to $50 per day in FCCs. This doubles your spending power at market! At the Saturday and Sunday Markets at our Pavilion at Steamboat Landing, our Tuesday Downtown Market or Wednesday East Hill Market, and at our Triphammer Marketplace Winter Market – just check in with staff on duty and ask them to complete the transaction for you.
